MBTI and Korean Saju: Your Type and Your Day Master
In Korea, “MBTI 뭐예요?” (what’s your MBTI?) is almost as common as asking someone’s name. The four letters show up on dating profiles, idol introductions, variety shows and friends’ group chats, and they’re a way to break the ice and laugh at yourself a little. But MBTI is a modern personality questionnaire: it describes how you prefer to respond today. Saju (사주) is something else: a tradition of Chinese origin, deeply rooted in Korea, that reads the energy of your date and time of birth. Its centerpiece is the Day Master (일간, ilgan), the element that represents you. Putting both lenses together is a game of self-reflection: here you’ll see how each of the 16 types blends, or clashes, with the 10 Day Masters.
