Eight of Swords
Keywords: limiting beliefs, feeling stuck, fear, a way out
A blindfolded figure, body wrapped in cloth, stands among eight swords stuck in the mud. She seems trapped, but the swords don’t fully surround her and her feet are free. The Eight of Swords speaks of feeling there’s no way out when, in reality, the biggest obstacle is in your thoughts. Fears, doubts and old beliefs keep you from moving. Breathe, loosen the blindfold little by little and take a step: there’s more road than you think.
Reversed
Reversed, the Eight of Swords announces release: you start to see options where you used to see only walls. A belief that held you back loses its power. It can also show someone helping you look from a different angle. Keep going, one step at a time. The way out doesn’t have to be perfect; it just has to be a move forward.
Love
In love it can point to fear of opening up, insecurities or a relationship where you feel you can’t express yourself. Ask yourself what’s really stopping you. Often the door is open and all it takes is the courage to speak honestly.
Work
At work it can show the feeling of having no options, or holding yourself back for fear of making mistakes. Make a list of possibilities, however small. Asking an outsider for advice can reveal exits you weren’t seeing.
Advice
Write down a belief that holds you back and, next to it, one piece of evidence that it isn’t entirely true. Blindfolds loosen with questions.

- 金 Metal
This Eight is Metal (金) turning rigid. In saju, Metal without flexibility closes in on itself; Water (金生水) frees it, turning hardness into movement. Thinking out loud is your way to flow.
