Dreaming of frogs: meaning in Korea
In Korean tradition, frogs in a dream are small abundance: money arriving in quantity, cheerful news and life that multiplies.
What they say in Korea 개구리꿈
In Korea, frogs are said to announce abundance because they lay hundreds of eggs and fill the rice paddies with song in summer. So seeing many frogs in a dream is read as money arriving through several channels, or as a home full of life. A big, brightly colored frog leaping toward you is considered good news. If a frog comes into your house, the folk reading speaks of gains or pleasant visitors. Frogs also appear in taemong stories. There is even a Korean saying about the frog in the well (우물 안 개구리), someone with narrow horizons, so a frog climbing out of the well is read as opening up to the world.
Depending on the details
if you see lots of frogs
The classic reading of abundance. Varied income, rising sales or a busy social life. A good moment to launch something small and watch it multiply.
if a frog jumps on you
A pleasant surprise lands right on you: a gift, an offer or news that changes the tone of the week. Tradition says to answer fast, before the frog hops somewhere else.
if you catch a frog
It is read as locking in a gain or an achievement. Something that seemed slippery, like a contract or an answer, finally ends up in your hands.
And luck?
After dreaming of lots of frogs, a Korean might feel brave enough to launch a small project or, for fun, play the lottery.
In other traditions
In the West the frog is tied to transformation, cleansing and renewal, because it goes from tadpole to adult. There is also the fairy tale of the frog who becomes a prince: something that changes shape.
