Plot (no spoilers)
Do Min-joon came to Earth from another planet in the middle of the Joseon era and missed his ride home. Since then he has spent 400 years living quietly among humans, never aging and careful not to draw attention. In the present he is a cold, distant university professor, and he is counting the days: in three months he will finally be able to leave.
Right then, Cheon Song-yi, one of the most famous actresses in the country, moves into the apartment next door. She is loud, proud, honest to the point of recklessness and always in trouble, especially now that her career is going through a rough patch. Again and again, Min-joon is forced to rescue her, breaking the rules that kept him safe for centuries.
Other key characters move around them: Lee Hwi-kyung, a rich, sweet heir who has loved Song-yi for years; his brother Lee Jae-kyung, an impeccable businessman with a dark side; and Yoo Se-mi, Song-yi's childhood friend turned rival actress, who lives in her shadow. Against everything he had promised himself, Min-joon begins to fall in love, just as the clock on his departure keeps ticking.
Characters and their Saju
Do Min-joon 도민준
Kim Soo-hyun · Yin Water · The Rain
Min-joon is an alien stranded on Earth since 1609. After four centuries of learning not to get involved, he has become a cold, reserved university professor. He has clear rules about never getting too close to anyone, and Song-yi tests them from the moment she moves in next door.
If Min-joon had a Saju card, it would be Yin Water · The Rain: cold to the touch, silent and with centuries of patience built up. Rain falls from the sky without asking, and he too fell from the stars and stayed longer than planned.
Cheon Song-yi 천송이
Jun Ji-hyun · Yang Fire · The Sun
Song-yi is an A-list actress, vain and unfiltered, who says what she thinks even when it gets her into trouble. Her career is in crisis and her life is a whirlwind of scandals and stumbles. Her explosive personality is the series' great comic engine.
If Song-yi had a Saju card, it would be Yang Fire · The Sun: loud, brilliant and convinced she's the center of the universe, which is funny when the guy next door comes from another galaxy. Wherever she shows up, nobody looks away.
Lee Hwi-kyung 이휘경
Park Hae-jin · Yin Earth · The Garden
Hwi-kyung is a chaebol heir, rich and sweet-hearted. He has been in love with Song-yi for years and is always ready to support her. His affection is sincere and patient, even if she doesn't always notice. Amid so much drama, he is the story's tenderest face.
If Hwi-kyung had a Saju card, it would be Yin Earth · The Garden: generous, gentle and always ready to welcome. A garden waits patiently for what it loves to bloom, even if the flower is sometimes looking toward another star.
Yoo Se-mi 유세미
Yoo In-na · Yin Wood · The Climbing Vine
Se-mi is Song-yi's childhood friend and is now an actress who competes with her. She has lived in her shadow for a long time, and that constant comparison weighs on their friendship. She's a character torn between an old affection and a rivalry that keeps growing.
If Se-mi had a Saju card, it would be Yin Wood · The Climbing Vine: she grows beside a taller plant and searches for her own ray of light. Her Saju challenge is to stop climbing in someone else's shade and find her own wall.
Lee Jae-kyung 이재경
Shin Sung-rok · Yang Water · The Ocean
Jae-kyung is Hwi-kyung's brother, a polished businessman with perfect manners. But beneath that surface lies a dark side few people know. His presence gives this romantic comedy a touch of suspense that keeps everyone on edge.
If Jae-kyung had a Saju card, it would be Yang Water · The Ocean on a moonless night: calm on the surface and deep, cold and hard to read underneath. In Saju, water like this needs solid dikes so it doesn't sweep everything away.

Why so many people fell for it
My Love from the Star mixes romance, humor and a dash of science fiction with a couple who couldn't be more opposite. It was a phenomenon: a scene where Song-yi craves fried chicken and beer sparked the "chimaek" craze in China. In Peru, Willax premiered it in July 2019, and in Brazil the free-to-air network SBT began airing it in June 2025 as "Meu Amor das Estrelas".
