The Devil

Keywords: attachments, temptation, desire, patterns

The Devil shows two figures chained to a pedestal. If you look closely, the chains are loose: they could take them off whenever they wanted. This card speaks of attachments, habits that trap you and desires that take the wheel. It could be a screen routine, an impulse purchase or a relationship that absorbs you. It also acknowledges pleasure and ambition, which aren’t bad in themselves. The key is to ask yourself: am I choosing this, or is it choosing me?

Reversed

Reversed, The Devil brings good news: you’re starting to loosen your chains. You recognize a pattern and find the courage to change it. There may be slip-ups, and that’s okay; what matters is the direction. It can also show that you’re facing something you used to avoid. That uncomfortable moment is the beginning of your freedom.

Love

In love it points to intense attraction, strong chemistry and maybe dependence. Enjoy the passion, but notice whether there’s jealousy, control or fear of being without the other person. Healthy love lets you breathe and adds to your life.

Work

At work it can point to ambition, good earnings or, on its shadow side, staying in a job only out of fear or comfort. Look at what keeps you there. Set limits on work that invades your nights and weekends.

Advice

Identify one habit that takes more than it gives and cut it back a little this week. Your freedom starts with something small.
